Problem with Honda automatic transmission Sign In

2006
HONDA
CITY (AT)
1.5
51,000 KM

Two days ago my car's engine stopped every time I stepped on gas after stopping at traffic light - transmission was on "D". Strangely enough, the car could move when I switched to "S" so I pulled over and called a mechanic. After some investigation, he said that there is problem with "valve body control" and it needs to be replaced. Since the part is a bit pricey, I want to ask for second opinion here: is it normal that under normal usage and relatively low kilometers, the part can be heavily damaged?

Thanks in advanced.

Vehicle is not sold here and service information isn't available in the states for your vehicle. Advice may be limited.

If they don't even sell the car here, how could be have a similar situation?

Well, people travels and drive in other countries, for instance. Also I believe all automatic cars do have "valve body control" which probably have similar life time for same brand and/or year.

Re: Problem with Honda automatic transmission Sign In

Principles of operation are usually similar. Valve body should do what it's told by mechanical and or electronic controls. Still requires fluid under pressure and the thing able to react to inputs. If it can't, it may not be the item but the info it gets. If design is all different most of us would be lost to even peruse how it is controlled,

Re: Problem with Honda automatic transmission Sign In

Yes, just about every transmission out there has a valve body that is used to control the operation of the apply components and to regulate pressure. There are many differences between these valve bodies and the way they are controlled by the computer in the vehicle. Without knowing how those functions are controlled or information on system design, your guess would be as good as mine if your valve body is the culprit in your situation.

Hopefully someone outside the states that works on the City may pop in and give you some information.
