HT, anything wrong with moving forward with installing the new clutch release cylinder and using it to engage the clutch arm? I can't quite get the leverage I need against the clutch arm. It's so far inside the clutch housing, it's difficult to engage. I even sawed off a broom stick, stuck it in, then used a C clamp. Still, not real good options for leverage with the C clamp. I can keep moving the transmission around, but it's not cooperating much. Thought I should try your idea with the clutch.

That probably wouldn't be a good idea since the bellhousing is still not fully seated you may over extend the slave cylinder and cause the piston to pop out and ruin your slave cylinder.

Got it all together and everything is working great. However, it didn't right when I first started the truck and tried shifting. The truck wouldn't go into any gear, except reverse, initially. So we bled the clutch line again, and pumped the clutch for a while. Eventually, we were able to get into each of the gears, but it was a little hard shifting. After a few minutes, shifting became very smooth, no issues. Is that normal (all the difficulty in the beginning)?

Yes bleeding is always a big issue with those a real pain in the ass

Congrats William! You've earned your stripes and what a great read this was.
Trick to bleeding hydraulic clutches isn't listed is quite simple: PUT TRUCK ON IT'S ROOF! This also requires a willing helper (they do this just once) locked inside to push the pedal feverishly at the threat of you not letting them out. Works like a charm but you lose that helper forever! Good luck finding another next time,
