Nissan TD23 Drivetrain Problem Sign In

Please help I have nissan datsun 4x4 - TD23 with the following problem. You can push and move in when in neutral. The engine starts and run fine when in neutral also when the clutch is depressed. When I engage 1st gear and try to drive the engine stops running as if overloaded. I can turn the engine when not running. Is it the clutch or gearbox problem

Re: no drive when engage gear Sign In

Wondering if this has the "steep hill lock" on it. When you come to a stop on an incline and apply clutch and brake, the brake holds vehicle position until clutch is released. Did it have that built in?

You check the rear brakes, to see if they are locked up?
