Im just looking to find out if anyone knows what rear wheel drive transmissions will work with the 3.0 L yamaha sho engine. I currently have a 1992 Taurus Sho and the body has seen better days. The engine runs awesome though and really don't want to get rid of it. So I'm trying to figure out which transmissions will work best with this engine. I'm thinking of putting it in a little truck just not sure what transmissions will work. Anyone have any ideas?

Just guessing, but I would think it would bolt up to a Ranger. If the car is an automatic I'd get the PROM chip from a SHO that was a stick and use a stick shift trans. You would then also need a flywheel, clutch, etc. Otherwise the PCM goes haywire not being plugged into the transmission from the SHO. I always thought it would be a neat swap to put a SHO engine into a Probe that came with a 3.0 from the factory. I'm sure it could get up and go pretty quick. I'll warn you now that if you have to have emissions in your state they won't likely pass you, and if the motor mount positions for a RWD aren't present on the block you would either be doing some extensive fabrication work or end up not doing the project. This could get to be a major undertaking with less than pleasing results for you. At the age of the motor it may run well now but doubtful for the future, and would then either require you to cut losses on the project or pony up a lot more money to keep it going.
