LOUD CLUNK AS I PULL AWAY

I am posting here in TRANSMISSION as the most approprate place but it may be just drivetrain related.
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY LX, 14,000 miles, 3.5, under warranty but dealer can't solve. Dealer says they have checked for loose brakes, tranny scan, drive axles, engine mounts. Here is what I experience. - COLD start. San Jose, CA mild environment (50F-70F).
- Back out of garage and come to a stop.
- Put into drive and immediately gas it to pull away normally (I don't gun it!).
- LOUD "hammer blow" clunk then occurs from front as soon as vehicle starts to move.
- Stopping and driving forward again never produces the clunk.
- If I back up again FIRST and then drive forward again I get the loud clunk. i.e. I must back up first to get it to clunk.
- If I put it into drive after backing up and wait 2-3 seconds I hear a light click after which if I drive away I do NOT get the clunk.
- If after backing up I apply the parking brake hard to prevent forward movement, then put into Drive and gas it - NO CLUNK!
- Clunk diminishes a lot once vehicle has reached normal temp.
- NOTE: I am familar with normal drive train clicks and small clunks. This is not that - it's very sharp and loud. From the 2-3 second delay note above it sounds like something is slowly (too slowly?) going into place without drive torque behind it, and hence the light click.
- NOTE: I have test driven two other 2010 ODYs and they do not have this problem.
- NOTE: the vehicle itself runs great with a very smooth transmission.
- NOTE: 2010 ODY does not have a replaceable tranny filter. So, I cannot do a simple fluid/filter change to see if it's that simple.

A 2010 anything with just 14,000 miles must be under warranty as you said. If you go messing with it you'll void that. If you look in operator/owners manual bet you have only needed routine oil changing and rotate tires so far.
If you've hit or done something need to say that.
Because this problem seems to go away you no doubt will be asked to leave it unless something obvious. If they can't find it then go up the ladder to management and probably have a similar vehicle to use while they figure it out. You should not have to take NO or can't find for an answer but if it's not doing the problem in front of them what could anyone do?

Thanks for reply . I'm not looking to mess with the vehicle. I'll let the dealer do any repair needed under the warranty. My problem, as stated, was that the dealer is drawing a blank. I need some forum drivetrain hot shot to say to me ideally "your problem, based on the detailed description you provided, is XXXXX or YYYYY" etc. I will then share that with the dealer.
No, I haven't hit anything to date. Vehicle has had just routine servicing to date. I am now at the Service Manager level. Next repair attempt will be their third, so I am sure they will try extra hard this time. I just want to help them get the job done.

What should be isn't always but it's really THEIR problem not yours and if the techs they have can't figure it out THEY do the leg work to any higher end somewhat oblique problems. I feel for you as it can be difficult, they could blame you - anything to make you go away. It's stupid and they should be busting butt to find it.
Non mechanical but try to keep your cool but don't give in. Glad it's not me as I'd lose my cool and get thrown out of the place.
Just went thru this at this site with another car that nobody could fix from new and the guy (lost all hair no doubt) went all the way and got either a new car or $$ back thru the Lemon Law system which isn't so easy. No - this will get fixed IMO.
Hang in there and please let us know what finally cured this so others can see it.
