I have rented a vehicle and the auto transmission failed. According to rent-A-Car company the car was hit underneath and transmission oil pan was damaged. There is not a single drop of oil leak and is it possible this caused transmission failure pictures attached. I would appreciate if someone could help. http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/674sNeK8/1947.jpg http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/674sNeK8/1948.jpg

I tried to make your pics show up here but they are too large for that. Of course you can damage the internal parts of the transmission with a dent in the pan. No, it does not have to leak to have damage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The question would still remain on how much damage was done and the actual cost to repair. Rental companies have a reputation for going after a total destruction cost when the actual repair is far less. They like turning a profit on their customers.
