We are replacing the clutch. We have finally got the transmission dropped, however we now cannot get the throw-out bearing removed. Is there a trick to removing this? DanD Veteran / Moderator Jun 4, 2009, 3:07 AM Post #5 of 6 (3034 views) Re: Clutch Throw-out bearing Sign In Where the plastic hose plugs into the slave cylinder’s connecting collar, there should be a white plastic ring. This ring is supposed to be pushed into the collar; which in turn depresses the retaining clips and the hose should just pull out. That being said; time, corrosion and plain old dirt; seizes up the works and it can be almost impossible too get this plastic ring to slide in deep enough into the collar to release the retainer clips. It’s an o-ring that seals the hose to the slave cylinder’s collar; so the hose should move around; as in being able to twist it and push it in and pull it out a small amount, against the retainer clips. Before you even attempt pushing the plastic ring into the collar; make sure you can easily move this ring and the line so that the ring will push into the collar, without a lot of force. There is a tool for pushing in the ring; it makes it easier but not absolutely needed; just make sure the ring goes in evenly. Dan.
