Camshaft range sensor error code
|
|
|
Had the camshaft sensor recently put in. I hope this fixes starting issue. I want to avoid the Chrysler dealership as they charge expensive diagnostic fees. I read sometimes replacing camshaft sensor may not always fix issue. But I can't afford to repair this 2008 mini van much longer.

If you want to ask for help here you need to learn how it's done. To be included in your question Year, make, model and engine size The specific problem that you are trying to resolve Any stored code numbers Description of any previous attempts to repair the problem An idea on how you would like to proceed from here that include your repair abilities. What you have posted so far makes no sense at all. A transmission Range sensor and a Camshaft Position sensor are two entirely different components for two entirely different parts of the car. One is an engine part and one is a transmission part. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Well the mechanics I seen today said whatever code I was given didn't matter. I've read about my van and many have various issues with the 2008 Chrysler Town and Country LX. Some said and from my own experiences with this vehichle seems to be mostly electrical problems. The mechanics I seen today said the code showing range sensor doesn't matter and they think its a fuel pressure issue or starter relay. The can has intermittent issues in early morning. Am not sure if Midas caused the issue as I never had this issue before taking to Midas. Had to get a tune up after Midas put on bad spark plug as another mechanic said was that issue. The code one shop gave me was the range sensor code for above van P0706 The mechanic I seen today said they had a issue similar with a newer model van they have. Read these vans have lots of issues due to being a Chrysler. The shop I took the van to today said I eliminated the issues with buying extra parts, narrowing down the issue. They think its fuel pressure. It seems that mechanics can't pin point exact issue but think its a fuel issue. I had a fuel pump put on. Feel I wasted some cash doing that.

All that typing and you still haven't stated what the actual problem is. I don't see any related issues between fuel pressure and a starter relay. Is it a no cranking problem or something else. What are you trying to fix? If it's a no crank issue, then the range sensor certainly does matter. I don't think this mechanic has any clue.

! Dealers. They still lose $ doing repairs just have to as they sold the stuff. Back to the one point is "early morning start" it screws up. Hold key or whatever in "run" position, hear fuel pump prime up to a real pressure rated for this if so and it should start first crank. Most anything does. Mopars are notorious to me for not holding fuel pressure in wait like "overnight" and under new car warranty still blew folks off because it still ran at all so go away. Bad attitude. That should be a problem with a regulator not holding the pressure. It might not for weeks but should overnight or that amount of time. It leaks down pressure you could watch that with a fuel pressure gauge left hooked up. This isn't a camshaft error it's fuel pressure isn't there by all odds no matter what codes tell you one triggers another to lead you the wrong way just watch the fuel pressure and "voila" that's the real problem, T

Tom, don't waste the typing here until he clarifies what the car is doing. We still don't know what engine this is. We don't even know if this is a "no crank" or a "crank, no start" so until he puts some effort into this, just leave it alone.

I did state the issue. Ugh :( So anyways the guy that does wiring will look at the issue today. They suspect a wire is cause of the issue. The wire they said is reading 114 and thinks the van does not need extra fuel. My guess is Midas had put a bad wire on it as I never had this issue before. They should pay the repair. They did oil leak valve replacements.

Chrysler makes junk. I'm learning that now. Hopefully can trade for a better used SUV in near future.

A lady at the independent Chrysler Dodge shop thought camshaft and I did too at time. Obviously not the issue now. So I'm guessing it would be a wire, or even faulty ground wire in battery. But should know something today if it is a wire issue as the mechanics are having their main technician look into this fuel delivery issue. Obviously fuel is working or car wouldn't run, right? Lol I've explained the issue best as I'm experiencing . Van has to crank 3-5 somedays to start. Crankshaft is fine, starter fine and was checked. Long hard starts in morning but works rest of the day as normal.
