A good place to start would be to check the grounds. Start at the negative battery cable and check the wiring harnesses. A broken or loose ground will give intermittent problems. That's where I'd start looking.

As to your brakes, check your wheel cylinders. Probably starting to leak and will cause this. Thats a much more pressing issue than any other, this thing needs to be able to stop on time every time. Your transmission will be pulling codes, and you need to get them scanned and post hear. I would anticipate a shift solenoid circuit code and possibly a gear ratio error code at least.

Steve has some good advise on the grounds & connections, a bad connection can definitely cause that, also you might want to get the battery tested to make sure there are no problems there....

If all that checks out, I'd probably take a quick look at the ign switch that's also a problem area on those............
