BMW P0783 fault Sign In

I have a 2004 BMW 330ci with 120,000km on it automatic. I have fault code P0783 and it keeps getting stuckk in gear. My mechanic said it is a selonid problem but the auto transmission place says it is the drum and the whole transmission needs rebuilding. Who is right? Thank you :)Shocked

Really don't know without some troubleshooting results. P0783 has to do with the shift solenoid (C) circuit having a power short. I really don't think an electrical circuit code would be setting because of a mechanical problem with the transmission, but I don't specialize in BMW transmissions. If it came into our shop we would test the electrical circuit for SS (C) for a power short using a meter/scope.

Did you ask the transmission shop why they want to overhaul the transmission for a shift solenoid electrical circuit problem? If so, what was the answer they gave you?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thank you so much for your reply Wink
The transmission place said it needs a new transmission drum as that is what is causing it to stick and transmission overhaul because it would have all bits of metal in it. My warranty will only pay $750 towards it and I have to pay the other $2300!!! I am female and blonde!!! Sly
