99 mitsubishi galiant trans problem

i have 99 mits galiant V6 tranny takes forever to engage. put it drive wait 5-10 seconds and you can drive, same in reverse. come to a stop sign have to wait. some times if u drive it around the block it looses all tranny. PLEASE HELP

It sure sounds like this tranny is on it's last legs...
I don't normally suggest this but in this case I would change the oil & filter in the transmission and add a qt of Trans X.
Keep in mind that this will either cure the tranny or kill the tranny,,,,,,,,One way or another....problem solved....
This one sounds so bad it's almost undriveable in it's present condition so it's worth the gamble......

tried that just hoping it was fixable without replacing have any good ideas where to go to get info / manuals for tranny repair u r the bomb

Well the DIY manuasl sold in the parts stores leave a lot to be desired and would probably be of little use for a job like this. The best place would probably be a one car single subscription from All Data. I don't have the link handy but googling it would get you there. I'm not sure of your skill level but rebuilding a transmission does take a little skill and some special tools to do it right.....
Once again another gamble I don't normally recommend but in situation like this if you don't have all the tools,,,,, the cheapest route to get back on the road would be to swap your tranny out for a used one. Some wrecking yard will offer some type of warranty and this is the route you would want to go. If it did go south you would eat the labor but at least get another tranny....
Obviously you would pull the pan of the used tranny to make sure there wasn't a bunch of junk, metal or big pieces in the pan and install a new filter. I would also get the tranny flushed as soon as you were done. Since it would already have a new filter you could get a fluid only flush, which would also be cheaper and would get all the old fluid out of the used trans & all the junk out of the cooler & lines.......
It's would be a gamble but I'm sure you are aware of what the costs would be to do this the right way........
