Search Auto Parts Search 99 f250 gears not locking or slipping Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Transmission Problems dru250 Novice May 1, 2011, 3:27 PM Post #1 of 6 (2604 views) 99 f250 gears not locking or slipping Sign In ok so i have 99 f250 that i bought to long ago(salvage if it helps any)...ever since ive gotten it i have had this problem with the gear locking. first it was just that the truck wouldnt turn on unless i shifted the gear from park to neutral and bak to park. now it wont even lock in park, aside from that it will only shift from reverse to 2nd gear(P R N D 2 1)...if i wanna park i have to leave it in reverse while pressing on the breaks and then turn it off and remove the key. to turn it on i have to shift it to neutral in order to start the engine...im sure none of this is good for the transmission...if u could help me find out what might be wrong with my truck before i spend money on unnecessary parts that would be great...thank you (This post was edited by Hammer Time on May 1, 2011, 4:48 PM) zmame Veteran / Moderator May 1, 2011, 4:31 PM Post #2 of 6 (2591 views) Re: 99 f250 gears not locking or slipping Sign In Shift linkage cable or somthing mechanical in the colum. That green was just too hard to read.
