Okay I Have searches through the blazer related forums to no avail I will attempt to inform you guys on my issue a little lengthy description of the 2 months of issues thank you For trying to be patient and reading full novice diagnosis 1998 Chevy blazer Ls 4.6 L vortec V6 123,466 Miles Check Engine Is not on Due for Oil Change Friday Original titile 2nd owner Common For The Blazer I’ve been having shifting problems It is automatic I have not had any actual diag tools hooked up yet although I work at a car x I’m only the oil guy lol and sometimes it can be a pain to get your tech to run a 100$ engine light check just “because “ but I have another option available if need be as of today. So from what I’ve read theirs a lot of commonality of it not engaging into drive or reverse that’s not a problem I can switch into anything easily. I have not ran my 123 gears driving only while pretty much idleing pump gas hit brake shift just to check....I believe their both tranny & engine are stock . When I accelerate it doesn’t shift too easy into 2nd if I am not fairly slow raising it will just get louder and then you hear like a rattle along with it like bolts in a paint can or something The the same thing from 2-3 once I hit third it isn’t hardly bad at all unless i push to hard on the highway the it seems like I can get up to 55-60 and be pedaling down but it won’t give me no juice I don’t lose speed just don’t gain it unless I let go and get back on or try and stomp it in. The. It wil revand kick up through it. I have checked fluids on a regular they have been changed although not flushed I have also used a Lucas oil tranny sealer and protecter tranny fluid because somewhere she sneezed tranny fluid everywhere down by the oil pan and lower right corner of the engine part it smoked white from dripping over my exauhst pipes slow dripped for a day and a half I filled her up again then she just started being real good again along with my being real gentle for a day before pushing it and testing = 2 -3 weeks I am again accelerating slower then I know can be normal it revs high between usually 3200 no more than4500 because I will let off the gas and try to let it shift itself and the loud ness and ratteling is so terrible I feel like it’s gonna break. Mygoal is to get some pointers can take pictures of things if need be I have never done trannywork although YouTube And a will to get something done is Nothing To Joke With. I’d like to catch it while it’s possible still holding I. Before a whole transmission is what I end up have I got buy for lack of attentiveness or preventive Again I do work in a shop so I have some nice things available at hand just no real mechanic to run em immediately when needed but fair advice Thanks for the help if any more info is needed please let me know

Quoting you a bit of your post "> I have checked fluids on a regular they have been changed although not flushed I have also used a Lucas oil tranny sealer and protecter tranny fluid because somewhere she sneezed tranny fluid everywhere down by the oil pan and lower right corner of the engine part it smoked white from dripping over my exauhst pipes slow dripped for a day and a half I filled her up again then she just started being real good again along with my being real gentle for a day before pushing it and testing = 2 -3 weeks I am again accelerating slower then I know can be normal it revs high between usually 3200 no more than4500 because I will let off the gas and try to let it shift itself and the loud ness and ratteling is so terrible I feel like it’s gonna break.<" First off, I'm NOT this site's trans specialist but not sure I have to be with what you are saying so far. * It's plain leaking and making noises is about a 21 year old thought to be original and you've added fluids and a sealer unknown to me what yuck is in a can for magic fixes doubt that's good for anything if not harmful. * You work at a place and have no help! OK - You feel like something is about to BREAK and I think you are right as in physically broken parts, leaking, noisy it's going to show what is broken soon enough and remove all doubt. Go easy with web crap sport. 98% of junk out there is all wrong, misleading and no proof that anything is correct or not so take it for what it is. It's nothing like being there in person pictures, videos just don't compare to seeing and hearing it right in front of a tech with a clue so far hasn't happened or missed that? Find the right shop that does this stuff now an older generation of "Chevy" at least is of some help lots were made. Could be wrong but this is more likely a 4.3 Vortec just the web again didn't find a 4.6 can be a typo or not sold to the US exactly or another mistake. This engine layout can bust cast metal where starter is attached rare but heard of it and might be a place to look. Are things tight and intact around where it's leaking on exhaust parts? That you should see and be able to name the part(s) with an obvious problem if not and you see it find the right help. It's actively doing this, leaking and making noise should be a one stop check by the right tech and shop to get some real answers on where to go next with this problem the sooner the better as running low on fluids if not all ready will be the end of this transmission's useful life and decide from there what you want to do, T

Hello, If you have a check engine light on, have the car scanned and post the codes, this my give me some direction. This trans is a 4L60E, 3rd gear is the weak point. How is the 2-3 Shift? Gary
