Under lite acceleration at about 18 to 20 mph when the transmission is shifting into 3rd, it seems to shuffle between 3rd and 4th or possibly reverse as it has a metallic clunking sound with each shift cycle back and forth. It sound like back lash in the in the drive shaft. The engine also chokes down but does not buck vehicle. Then by about 22mph, it settles into 3rd and no problems shifting into 4th at hwy speeds. Under moderate or hard acceleration, it shifts through the gears normally. If you put the gear select in 3rd, it will shift normally as well. The transmission was rebuilt about 40k miles ago. It is not throwing any codes.

With something like you have you really need a scan tool with data stream capabilities that can monitor transmission information. It would be interesting to see how the PCM is controlling the shift solenoids, what vehicle speed information is, and to see if there is maybe a TPS glitch. Maybe watching those pids can get an idea where to look for the problem.
