Hey guys, I've got a 97 Ford escort with 2.0 motor. I can't get this thing out of Park. I previosly had issues with it and used the "screwdriver method" which worked fine. The car has been sitting for about 5 mos. without driving. Here's what I've tried so far: -Replaced the brake stop switch..(out of adjustment or bad switch)???? -Brake lights ARE working The car is starting fine, just won't shift. Could there be a problem with the shifter itself??? Neutral safety switch???? Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Need advise on where to go next. Thanks.

If it will not unlock out of park there might be a problem with the shift interlock mechanism. Could be a sized or broken cable. You will have to take the center consol a part and inspect everything. -------------------------------------------------------- Your only as good as your tools!
