'97 Hyundai Tiburon Transmission Problem

I have a '97 Hyundai Tiburon 1.8L. I'm not sure the mileage right now. It will go forward, but it will not go in reverse. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Broken transmission would be a pretty good guess. You need to get it to a tranny shop for rebuild.

If you're fixing it yourself, then you already know how to rebuild it. If you don't, then you aren't fixing it yourself.

The special tools alone that you would need to overhaul this along with the equipment to properly clean it cost more than a rebuilt transmission. Go ahead with the R&R, but you're asking for expensive troubles if you play with the internals. I'll put it this way, I'm an ASE certified professional with the better part of a decade doing nothing but wrenching in shops and even I leave the guts of them alone.

Special tools? I thought all you needed was a can of brake cleaner, measuring tape, tweezers, and a case of beer.
