97 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3 V6 Auto - 132k miles

Problem started yesterday. Van ran fine in the morning. Problem occured in the afternoon with seemingly no lead up. Transmission engages, will not upshift or downshift from 3rd gear. Transmission fluid at proper level and clean. No noises or grinding sounds while driving. Advanced Auto ran diagnostic and came back with:
P0733 - Gear 3 incorrect ratio
P0700 - Transmission control system (malfunction indicator lamp request)

The guy behind the desk said a new solenoid and computer reset would fix. Just looking for a second opinion. Will that work? Could it just be input/output speed sensors? Do I need a transmission tear down and rebuild? Or is there another solution?
Thanks for viewing!

You need to take it to a shop and have it diagnosed and repaired this could be shift solenoids like the guy mentioned or it could be even more complicated

Okay, I was figuring that would be the best option, since I didn't want to have to spend $180 on the solenoid and end up having the problem be different/worse. Thanks for the reply!

That is a common failure problem on those.....Most leak and some have shifting issues like your are getting....

Even if you had to rebuild the tranny, which I don't think you are going to have to do....you would want to replace that solenoid.....So it would be best to change it now & see if that helps your problem

Okay, that makes sense. I will try that, and see how it runs. Thanks for taking time to reply.
