Check engine light on? See if there are any trouble codes being stored in the PCM.

Yes the check engine light is on the code is p1886 the shiftB solenoid failed is it a wiring problem to the PCM or is it the PCM bad or do I have to pull the plate to change the solenoid itself?

That code means the VCM (vehicle control module) is seeing either 0 volts or 12 volts when it commands the 3-2 solenoid. The power to the solenoid is shared by the other solenoids in the transmission. Power missing to the transmission or a short in the wiring before the solenoids can set that code.

Start off by checking the Trans fuse in the IP fuse block. Inspect the fuse and make sure it isn't blown. Also check for power at the fuse using a volt meter with the engine running.

Without power to the transmission, the transmission defaults into second gear which explains the slow take off.

Just curious, but in the instrument cluster is the PRNDL display working?
