95 chevy beretta with automatic tranny

95 chevy beretta with automatic tranny Sign In

my transmission slips out of gear while driving. when I pull over put it in park shut it off and restart it it works again. could it be a solenoid?

First thing to do is make sure fluid level is correct and if not find out why. After that you really should have a trans shop inspect it in person,

One more thought - does the shifter feel right or loose - anything screwy with it?

shifter feels fine and fluid levels are good,

I'm worried about a car that age now that this will need an overhaul. If it will catch a gear again if you downshift manually but at slower speeds this could be some funky linkage issue.

Hope for something silly and easily fixed as overhauls are expensive of course,
