What first led up to the problem was tranny would start to have low power when shifting. like a semi would start of. really slow. if i were to stop and restart the car this would temporarily go away for awhile. I tried putting some non slip lucas oil stuff in and a bit of tranny oil. that seemed to ease it a bit for awhile. WELL NOW.... its parked! BUT it rolls in park, reverse won't go and when it WAS some what driving it clunked, grinded, and gears jumped a bit. it smelled like burning oil and stripping metal. the rear axle and differential would smoke when i parked it. Sooo any help and thoughts asap would be great. Thanks!!!

Rear differential and/or transfer case is probably toast. Might want to have it towed to a tranny shop and have them check it out.

well i know the sleeve is already toasted, and i wanna fix it but rather not go to a shop due to low finances. although I was thinking of going out and getting a new rear end and drive shaft. your opinion?

Its your car. If you have the needed tools to do the swap you can try something from a boneyard. Obviously with used parts you take a chance at it. Just make sure you have a safe, flat and well lit area to work in with the proper lifting equipment and jackstands.

There might be more problems than the rear end and drive shaft. The rear end problem might of burned up the transfer case and may have damaged the transmission (if it is 4wd)

its been a slow day for me today, but i atleast took off the drift shaft from the u joint. tomorrow i'm going to try and take the pinion ring out and get the nut loose. then once i get the differential opened up i can then see what I am working with. Y'all are some great help. I really like y'alls opinions and highly appreciate it. it makes me have more thoughts. i'll keep y'all posted on the progress

No, you have to upload them to an image hosting site like Photobucket or Image shack and they supply a link to make them appear here.
