Hey guys, I was wondering if you would have any idea why the O/D Off light would start flashing as soon as you start the vehicle? It still runs ok, and shifts through all gears except overdrive. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: 95 Explorer Sign In

I think you’re going to have to have the system scanned for a code(s) that’s to see whether there is anything there that could give us a lead.
Once we have that we may have an avenue to start doing some test as to what’s causing this.
The problem may not even be transmission related; maybe one of the engine-input sensors is giving out a false reading. Not enough out of range to set an engine check light but the computer may have inhibited the overdrive in an attempt to protect the engine or transmission from what it thinks could cause damage.

Re: 95 Explorer Sign In

Hey guys, I took the vehicle to a shop to have the system scanned. The computer showed a code for an incorrect 3rd gear ratio. Then the computer asked the mechanic to start the vehicle and do a few other things that didn't make sense. When the program was done running he shut off the car and read the codes again, and nothing was there. The light hasn't flashed since and it has been running fine. I don't know what was wrong or why, but it's fine now. Thanks for the info.
