94 Nissan Altima slow to engage in reverse and sometimes no reverse. (when vehicle is driven for 15 minutes or more)

Hello:
For the past 3 weeks my car has had a few seconds of delay when going into reverse. During the beginning sometimes I would have to slightly tap on the gas so it would go in reverse; until the last time when it was in reverse for two minutes; so I just left the car parked where it was. When I started the car the next day it went into reverse with no problems.

There are no problems going into any other gear.

I have come to the conclusion that the transmission fluid is overheating? The fluid is still pinkish and smells like new. The engine and transmission were replaced from a junk yard car from a mechanic. He said that the engine had 90,000 miles and the transmission had 98,000 miles. This was about 6 years ago and I have probably put on 30,000 miles.

I don't know for sure if it is the right dipstick for this transmission and I have not been able to find out if I can check the level on the transmission by another way. It does concern me because I have been leaking fluid for a couple of months but it appears that the level is correct. I just don't want to add more and possibly overfill it?

I have put a clear hose on the radiator to the transmission and it appears to flow okay. When the car is turned off the clear 10" hose is half with air. normal?

Both the fans work on the radiator.

The trouble codes I read for my car are: (Code 32:EGR function, The EGR control valve does not operate) (Code 34:Knock sensor, The knock sensor circuit is open or shorted)

The engine does idle at the correct RPM (700 RPM)

I called a transmission shop and was told that if I changed the fluid it could make it worse. He said that it could be the bands; however it does work normal when the fluid is cooler.

I'm not sure what else to do or check.
Please help and thanks for your time.
