i have a 92 pontiac grand am with a 2.3 and want to put a 3.3 from a olds cutlas in it. just wondering if it would bolt up to the 3 speed in the pontiac. the hynes manual says that its the same transmission. just wondering if anyone knows anything on this.

One thing I do know is throw the Haynes manual away and get a real repair guide.LOL AllData or Mitchell has much more documentation and they usually get it right the first time. I am not sure if they will bolt up, you may want to take a good look at the bell housing. What I am thinking more of is motor mount alignment, wiring harness, and PCM. You might run into a lot more work than what meets the eye. You may have to do more swapping and modifying than you care to do. Good luck on this project if you decide to take it on, post back and let us know how it comes out.

P.S. Research the computer aspect before you start. You may have to do some real research on the interaction if you have to swap the PCM. Once you get the computer to make the engine run right, think about the interaction between the existing trans. and the existing body control module. You can check both cars' PCM service tag # and give them to the GM dealer to see if they can be used with the other modules in the vehicle. If they can't interact due to variations in the PCM wiring, you can spend a lot of time for nothing.

Salvage yards are real good at this info that I don't have. Bring VIN and the date from door jams that the car was made. Seems like you will be junking the donor at some point and they may want it, T

thanks for the info guys. yes i was thinking about swaping in the computer and wire harnesses too. but then i was thinking about could i swap the mem cal or prom or which ever i got. just get on for a pontiac grand am with a 3.3l. would it work. i wonder. the motor mounts is another thing i'm a little worried about. might have to do some cutting and weilding to make this work. the engine in the pontiac has 222,990 miles on it. and i cant get it to crank at all. tried every thing. nothing works. could be just a dead engine. i dont know. now the engine in the olds has maybe 13,000 miles on the rebuild. but the body of the olds is messed up bad. who ever had it beat it bad. i got alot of work to do if i can do it but thats a project i can do to kill some time. thanks guy.

Here's a fax # that may help you. It's to Rich's auto parts contact would be John Dunbar or anyone there 978-562-7489 or main line 1-800-541-0280. They cross over parts for a living and will ship anywhere.

So will others near you but if you are stuck that's the place I use, T

thanks yall. ill check up on them. do they have a web site too. i'm going to have my mom call them in the morning. i'm also working on a 93 s10 blazer. it needs a new transmission. question is would the tourqe converter still work if it's had alittle rust on it. i cleaned it the best i could. it's been sitting in the back of a car for about 2 years. just wondering. if i got any more questions about it i'll post a new one with chevy blazer. thanks yall.
