I bought this car aware there was electrical issues. I've got everything working and the car runs fine. However, trans will not shift out of 2nd. Getting codes 27-41-42- and 12-55.... I'm experienced in auto mechanics. But don't know where to start looking in this instance. Is this a tranny prob or an engine prob causing this limpmode? I still have a cooling fan issue. Also the speedometer dose not work. Any insight would be appreciated this is driving me nuts

Don't know why the transmission is defaulted. You would have to use a DRB or high end scan tool to get into the TCM to see what codes it is storing. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Any way to wipe the TCM? I do have a pretty good scan tool. But I don't have the adapter plug to go from the. OBD2 TO. OBD 1.... you wouldn't know the pin outs by chance?

Pin outs for what? Even if you had the PIN out for the DRB diagnostic connector you would still need the software and scanner to be able to communicate on the CCD bus. You can clear the codes out of the TCM by disconnecting the battery. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

OK. I cleared the tcm. Reconnected battery. . Pulled codes without starting. Got 12-55( one good thing)started car. It ran for about 15 sec. Before the CE light came on..... pulled codes again and got 42-41...in that order Double checked relays and fuses Do you really think I need to have the other codes pulled. ?. 42-41 are injector and charging related codes are they not?

What kind of scan tool are you using that doesn't read OBD1? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

That's not a scanner. That's a generic code reader designed for the DIYer to work with OBD2 only. You need a real scan tool.

OK. Well I don't have one of those on hand. Any ideas on what to do with what I do have? Any insight at all would be appreciated greatly.

The TCM needs to be read. If you don't have the equipment, then you'll have to pay someone that does.

Yes the alternator is charging.which seems amazing, considering that I have continuity. (0 resistance) to both pos. And neg. Battery terminals.....I've narrowed the short to be between the bat. And the connectors behind the battery... I'm at work right now. First thing when I get home I'm digging into the splice...
