92 Acura D4 Blinkjs And Speedo erratic	Sign In

This 92 Acura Legend shift indicator on the dash blinks after driving 4 - 5 miles, and whether sitting at a light or driving, the speedometer jumps around from 15 to 25 MPH to pegging at maximum. None of the other gauges, tach, gas, temp nor any lights are erratic.

No matter where the shift lever is, P, D3, D2, N or R the D4 segment blinks and the appropriate indicator is steady.

My first guess is that the speed sensor is bad, but I don't know where this sensor is on this car nor if it can be tested.

That shift indicator works the same as a check engine light does but except for transmission. It stores code in the Transmission Control Module that have to be retrieved but it requires a professional scan tool to do that. It likely has something to do with the speedometer problem.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. Is it possible that it's a "time to change the fluid" notice?

I think this guy is going to find the nearest Acura dealer tomorrow.
