Here's the problem:

I fiddled around trying to get this cable rod re-attached to the shift lever and the angle isn't there. I suspect that this piece was designed as a straight section and when it got bent it came loose from the shifter. My plan is to unbend the rod and re-attach it. I would like some input before bending things, though!

Does anyone have a diagram, description or image of what the rod is supposed to look like? Any suggestions for a better plan or confirmation that I have the right idea? Just about anything would be helpful, thank you!

It's damaged for whatever reason. Exact specs not availavle to me anyway. Why is this part damaged?
