I had that problem. It is the transmission, did you recently do any work to the car. Oil Changes/ Fluid changes, any flushing like tranny flush. If not then it could just mean that some of the gears have been ground down. Another possibility to check is the fuel filter, also try letting the car warm up for a few minutes and see if it will work. Then try revving up to approximately 3-4k rpms and see if it takes off. Also check your e-brake it could be seized. After doing all of that get a diagnostics test. Then let us know whats up.

No, please don't listen to any of the previous poster's advice.

Your transmission is slipping. Check the fluid level first and make sure it's full. If it is full, then you have internal problems and you'll have to let a trans shop look at it.

Wow you just said the same thing I said. I was just having him/her answer some questions. Why would you say something like that.

Because it's an automatic transmission with no gears to grind down. The fuel filter has nothing to do with this problem and revving it up to 4000 RPM will surely break internal parts in the transmission if it suddenly kicks in.

Please don't go giving advice on subjects you have no knowledge about as you can cause someone a lot of damage.

Coming here to ask about your own transmission problems does not qualify you to advise others on their transmission problems.

fluid is full. when your trans is working like it should doesnt it downd shift when you you come to a stop? and when you take off doesnt it start off in 1st? that being said when you pull out of your drive way in revers and put in drive wouldnt start off in first? so the trans is not starting off in first gear. it acks like it has a manual valve body. if i start off in first it is storng shift to second just as strong shift to drive works great over drive kicks in at 45.

Yes, that could be a problem with the valve body but there are other possibilities also. It needs to be examined.
