1995 toyota camry 2.2 liter engine 197172 manual 5 speed transmission first the clutch was failing so about 3 months ago we replaced the clutch the clutch recently started to fall to the floor and stay there... we had to use our foot to bring it back to the top took off the clutch bench tested it its still good.... replaced the clutch its tight now like its supposed to be... but now the car wont engage at all... we get rpms but no movement you still have to push in the clutch to start the car.... but once started you can move the clutch into every gear without using the clutch but the car still wont roll... what could be the problem

I'd sure like to know you you bench test a clutch. What exactly did you replace most recently? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

i took it to the part store where i got it... they refilled it with fluid and pressed the drive bar? what ever you call it :) and fluid squirted... and no leaks so they say its still good... changed just the clutch... but now the shift handle is free flowing ... you do not have to push in the clutch to slide it up into any gear... nor will the car roll at all in first or any gear for that matter

OK, you talking about the clutch master cylinder that operates the clutch. That is not the clutch itself. The transmission has to be removed to change the clutch and that sounds like where your problem is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

yes ... sorry the master cylinder was replaced... and thank you for your help... i was thinking the next thing to check would be the pressure plate and the throwout? bearings... not sure... iam not the greatest in the automotive repair... but i can do the minor stuff... but it sounds like to me this is a repair shops job... not sure how hard or complicated this will be

There is nothing minor about this job. Removing the transmission out of a FWD car is no simple task. The pressure plate is just one part of a clutch package that would include the clutch disc and throw out bearing that will all be changed at the same time. If you have driven it to the point where the disc is slipping that badly, then you may need a flywheel also. This is not something that your going to do in your driveway.
