4WD WONT ENGAGE IN 98 S-10

I HAVE A 98 S10 THAT WON'T ENGAGE INTO 4WD. WHEN YOU PUSH THE 4HI OR 4LO BUTTON IT WILL CLICK AND THE LIGHT WILL FLASH MAYBE 2 TIMES AND THEN GO BACK TO 2WD. IT HAS A 4.3 IN IT AND HAS 279K MILES.ON THE 4WD. IT HAS A NEW MOTOR AND TRANS. THIS PROBLEM HAS JUST STARTED. I DID HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE TRANSFER CASE ENGAGING BUT NOT THE FRONT END ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THEY REPLACED A SWITCH IN THE FRONT DIFF. BUT THAT DID NOT FIX IT. SAID IT TURNED OUT TO BE A COMPUTER PROBLEM WHICH THEY FIXED. WHAT COULD IT BE NOW?

Two things to check 1st check to see if there is vaccum to the diaphram under your battery on pass side. 2nd check vaccum at solinoid on fire wall, if you have vaccum comming in and the solinoid isn't flipping the vaccum to the diaphram then no 4x4 you can also pull both vaccume lines off the solinoid and hold them toghether at the ends and have a friend push the button and tell you if it stops flashing if that works then you need a new solinoid.
