2005 Neon pops out of gear at 2300 rpm Sign In

I have a 2005 Dodge Neon, 2.0L 4-cyll. SOHC 16 valve engine, with a 5-speed manual T350 transmission. 144,000 miles.

For the last 5-6 months, every-now-and-then, when the rpm's got to about 2300, it would slip out of gear. It would just do it occasionally at first, but recently it does it nearly every time I drive it. It does this in all gears (although I haven't tried it in reverse Smile). When it does this, most of the time I can turn the car completely off for a few seconds, then re-start it, and that problem goes away for awhile. My first guess is that my clutch is going out, but if that were the case, would it sometimes work properly for several days, then start doing it again? Makes me think that something else may be the issue. Someone suggested to me that "it could possibly be the rubber bushings under the gear shift lever that connect the shift rods to the gear shift lever. When these wear out or crack and break, the shift levers do not let the transmission gears fully engage". This would be great, as even I could fix that, but I'm not sure; sounds to simplistic, don't you think?

In the last 2 weeks, it has been getting harder and harder to start, but I believe that is a spark plug/spark plug wire issue, so I plan on replacing those.

The Check Engine Light is on. I cycled the ignition, and got the following codes: P0129, P0325, P0456, and P0340.

I have not tried anything yet to fix this issue, as I am not sure where to start. I will eventually take it in for repairs, unless it is something easy to fix, but I do not want to just take it to a dealership and blindly trust them; I want to have some knowledge base prior to that.

Can anybody tell me what my possible issues (machanically!) are, and how I should procede to address them? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me!

Kelly

Edit: I just wanted to add, when I say it pops out of gear, that isn't exactly true, I don't think. It seems to me that if it slips out of gear, it would be in neutral, right? If that was the case, the rpm's would go higher. Well, that isn't what happens. It just stops getting any gas no matter how hard I push the accelerator, until the rpms get below 2300. Could it be a sensor of some sort that is cutting power somehow? Any help would be appreciated!
