Greetings! hope you are all doing well, at least a lot better than our van! 2004 Toyota Sienna LE 3.3 Liter V6 98000 miles Bought brand new in 2004 Tonight we were gonna head off to dinner so we got in the van. It started up fine, but it had a strange fluttering in the front and the gears were slipping. It took about 3 seconds to switch gears, and would sometimes simply stop as if the brakes were applied. we had to just leave it on the side of the road, we hadnt even gotten down the street. the only thing we have done to it was change the oil and coolant, earlier today in fact. it was working fine at that time. not sure how that could have changed anything, or what could have happened between then (afternoon) and now (9:30pm). The oil was slightly overfilled however, about half a quart. i really hope the transmission isnt busted, or its going to be a baaad week!

There's not really a lot of DIY repairs that can be done to a transmission. Like anything there is a maintenance schedule for servicing them to get the most life out of them. This is one area that does get overlooked more than other areas. Now this isn't saying that tranys that have got regular maintenance won't have problems either, but this is the best way to try to avoid the problems Once trouble starts is usually when the maintenance is done a lot of the times. Sometimes it can make things a little better or sometimes worse. Either way if it's got to the point where trouble has started then the damage has already been done. I'm guessing by your post you are talking about the transmission oil & not the engine oil, either way a 1/2 qt overfull isn't going to effect anything. So if you've already changed the tranny oil & filter, that's pretty much about all you can do. Maybe take a look at all the connections and make sure everything is hooked up, tight & not damaged, pull codes to see if there is any tranny codes. After all that it's going to need to go to a tranny shop for diagnosis........
