My 2003 Lincoln Navigator 5.4 DOHC will 'only sometimes' not shift into overdrive after the initial start up (about 50% of the time). It will not be in any gear, like if it is in neutral. If I press the O/D button on then off it will shift into O/D, or if I put it in neutral and back into drive it will shift into O/D. Also the doors will not automatically lock until I drive about 4 miles (this happens every time now). All shifting is smooth, and fluid and filter have been maintained. Could this be the vehicle speed sensor? I get no check engine lights and no codes come up.

If it was your speed sensor your speedometer wouldn't work. Trans codes don't always turn on an engine light. You will need a professional scan tool to see the trans codes, voltages and signals that are happening in this to diagnose it.
