Long story short, I got hosed over a nice 2003 chev. tb in september this year. I drove for 250 miles and the tranny went out! Anyways, my fault for not checking it out b4. I flipped the bill and got a rebuild from a quality place for about 1700 bucks (way better than complete replace) The transmission works fine but the check engine soon light keeps coming on. I have had it back to the place of rebuild twice (life time warranty on rebuild) and they have not found any issues. I got the truck back sunday (2 days ago) drove great for about 300 miles and the light is back on. Any ideaS? i'm thinking electrical but that is as much as i can gather... info about rebuild: the transmission needed complete rebuild and also had to replace internal wiring harness (which is usually intact for a rebuild) thanks for any help!

The P0785 is an open or short to power or ground in the 3-2 shift solenoid circuit and apparently they haven't found that yet. The P1864 doesn't even apply to this vehicle so there is likely some error in the reading of that code.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

P0785 is a 3-2 shift solenoid circuit fault. Shouldn't be to hard to diagnose that problem, because it indicates and open or short in the 3-2 shift solenoid circuit. You need to take it back and have them troubleshoot and resolve the issue. P1864 is not a valid code. Doesn't exist. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

i will double check on my diagnostic when i get home tonight. 2nd problem, the two times i have brought it back, my battery died and SES light was off when i got there, each time, I was told that the computer did not have any codes. Problem is, I have to leave the vehicle there when the work and communicate over phone. I already know that i should make sure to drive it there next time i have an opportunity. again, i will double check codes and repost, i know the p0785 is for sure what could happen if p0785 is not resolved???

That will cause serious shifting problem. That is a shift solenoid shorted out. It feasibly could even take out the control module.
