Before we became aware of that, I also noticed an occasional clunking in the back of the car when braking at a stop sign, etc. Are the two conditions related? My husband thinks it's transmission-related, and we're wondering if taking it to a oil change place that also does inspections and minor transmission work will take care of the problem. It's a 6-cylinder engine, and has about 165,000 miles on it.
