2.7 litre--floor shift--doesn't go into gear--can play with the shifter back and forth and get it into gear but wants to slip out when u want to get down the road. Sometimes hear a little grinding when trying to get in gear. I was hoping linkage but not sure. Any help? If it's the module inside the tranny is that hard to change?

me again...should mention that even when I get it into gear, reverse and drive, it won't get all the way into lowest gear. Should I spend time playing with the linkage or is it more likely electronic? Need some clues as to what to do. Thank you

Access the shift cable and see if it is moving freely. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

driverjud: If this shifter isn't moving it's full range from inside you know there's some linkage issue going on. I think I'd disconnect it and see if it's problem is still there or not. Just engine off to feel it without it moving anything at the trans at all, T
