I have a 2001 chevy venture v6 with around 140,000 miles on it. After a short drive the transmition starts winning. Right before it starts to make this noise, the traction control light and the abs light comes on wont turn off and sometimes and when you hit the brake it makes a growling noise. When you hit the gas it gets louder and when you remove from the gas it gets quieter. no noticable problems shifting.

Check for codes and decide if you should continue to drive this at all till problem is isolated and fixed. This may not be trans at all if applying brakes changes or adds to the noise and could feel like trans but be bearing, axle, brake or other issue causing the problem,
