2001 Chevy venture Sign In

Hello all,

Well the trouble started yesterday while i was out with my wife. With no warning she took off from a stop, and it started jerking real bad the dash sounded like it was going to fall off. once it changed out of first it sounded fine. then the next stop it did it again. i had her pull over and i checked the fluid with it running in park. It was higher then the full mark by about an inch with a couple bubbles on the stick. but i have never done anything to it since we got it 4 months ago. We took of again in the parking lot and it did nothing wrong, then pulling out of parking lot it did it again only in first. She pulled over and i got in the driver seat, put it in D and nothing just rolled backward, put it in 1 and it managed to drive with lots of jerking, drove it home using 1,2, & 3. once it gets going it will go fine unless you give it lots of gas, it then acts like it slips out of gear, and revs up. when you let off it slips back into gear. I pulled out enough fluid to bring it down to full still same problem. So to put it in a nutshell, D Nothing, Will take off in 1, & 2 but jerks real bad, once up to speed can put it into 3 and it will drive fine. but will not take off from a stop in 3, just revs up. R works fine.

Any Ideas as to where to start, guess Im looking into replacing or rebuild, but if there is anything i can check first then i will do, anyone had any of the same experiances? Very tight budget and it not getting any looser soon looks like. Frown

Thank you for the help!

Whatever started that is sure isn't a good sign. If actually by linkage falling out of gear that's a slight maybe but doesn't sound good for that trans,

Fluid high on the stick could mean the transmission pump isn't working properly. Line pressure needs to be checked. Got a feeling the transmission is going to have to come apart for overhaul or a replacement installed.
