2000 Dodge Neon Manual Trans wont reverse

Hey, I have been driving a 2000 Dodge Neon ¿SRT? for about 6-8 months and when it was sold to me she told me that she would, at times, have issues getting into reverse-- but it would eventually get there. When I have had issues, the trans stick wouldn't move into position 'R' but if I put it into first and rolled forward a bit the transmission would slip right into reverse, very occasionally with grinding but shifting out and back into Reverse would allow me to continue as normal.
Friday, I woke up to a flat tire, the last remaining from when I got the car, so I replaced it that evening. Upon leaving the garage, it was a bit more difficult to get it into reverse, which hadn't occurred in months-- but as usual, it got there and I drove away satisfied. As of Sunday, my little neon will not shift into reverse and I am forced to push it in neutral until I can drive forward.
It seems that the issue in most cases similar to mine, there is an issue with the shifting cable. I wish to assess this opportunity and proceed with a similar repair shown here link deleted ............. not allowed
Does anyone have any tips, or links to assistance on accessing the shifting mechanism shown in the video (base of the shifter).
Thank you so much for your help, I apologize for any lack of detail, I'm mechanically inclined but have very little knowledge of cars.

Given that your knowledge of car's is very limited the task of adjusting the linkage is quite involved. I recommend taking it to a shop to make sure
it's a linkage problem. It might also be a syncro problem inside the transmission its self.

It seems that the issue is not the linkage where it connects to the shifting mechanism inside the car.
However, I am hesitant to think that it is the syncro as I do not experience issues in any other gear, and can drive forward just fine. Does this still sound like it could actually be a syncro?

I don't think reverse is syncroed on those.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I had a stick shift once that would slip out of second and I replaced the cluster gear . It is possible that the reverse gear is damaged too and needs replacing. The original owner may have raked the gears once too often and damaged the cogs.
