It will still not go into gear and the tansmission pan was totally free of any shavings or metal. The fluid still looked good but I changed it anyway. I added 8 qts of fluid and it is too high on the dipstick as though it is not flowing through the system since it calls for 13.4 qts. The shifter works fine and the linkage is good as I checked the brake lights when putting it into reverse. Could it be the transmission pump? And will removing a transmission cooling line and checking for fluid spray verify it is working. What are other possible problems? That 13qt spec is including the converter and all the fluid stays in that when the pan is removed... Sounds like you've pretty much done all the stuff you can do. As long as the shifter is moving the lever on the trans then it looks like you have some internal problems and the trans will have to come out..... Thata why I thought it was strange that the fluid level seemed so high when I only added 8 qts.
