1999 Mercury Cougar Trans Problem

Hello my 1999 Mercury cougar, 84000 mi. 4 cyl. has been working fine until now. I backed out of a parking spot just fine and when i went to put it in drive nothing happened as if it was still in neutral. Drive 1 and 2 still work. That was the only way i could get home. Any info would be welcomed. Thanks
o the fluids were all normal as well
