I have a 1999 Buick Lesabre custom, V-6 3800 with automatic and 157,000 miles. When I start out from a stop and give it alot of acceleration the front wheel drive acts as if it is slipping from wet to dry spots on the road. If I start out slow it is smooth with no problems. Could this be a tranny going bad or drive axels. Thanks for your help, I am on a fixed income and hope that it will not need exspensive rebuild that cost more then car is worth.

If this has "traction control" perhaps a button that just says (T/C) somewhere (dashboard) it might be fooled somehow that it is needed or really is slipping tire to road if you are wailing on it which will "fix" your fixed income to fast out-come!

Check fluid color and level, try shutting off T/C if equipped should be telling of what or where to go next if problem continues,

T
