1999 Accord transmission problem i think

1999 Honda accord, 4 cylinder, automatic transmission
My car is an automatic and will shift through all the gears except for the last one, if i am going up a hill and put the accelerator all the way down it will either jerk like its trying to go between two gears but it cant shift or it will just rev and my speed will decrease. It just started to do this a day ago, usually happens between 3500 and 4000 rpms, any idea?

Check engine light on? D4 light flashing? How is the transmission fluid level and condition. You might need to swing into a transmission shop and let them diagnose your problem.

Check engine light has been on for 4 years, the shop that i go to said they checked the codes but didnt know why it was on. Also the same day that the shifting problem occurred my car stopped starting at the start of the day, i would have to turn the key back and forth multiple times before it would turn over, my dad was thinking there was a short some place, but that wouldnt cause the problem with the shifting would it? It all happened while i was on vacation so I am going to take it to a shop tomorrow. There is no D4 light flashing though, and havent checked the transmission fluid yet since I just got home

It could if the power to the transmission solenoids is being interrupted.
They need to figure out why the check engine light is on. There may be transmission related codes stored that might help with diagnosing your problem.
