Was driving my lincoln yestday (colder than heck here 10 below) pulled up to stop sign and when i drove away it won't shift out of low. The car has 220,000 miles and has the 4.7? V8 but hasn't given me any trouble. Took it a shop and ran diagnostics but no codes came up with anything being wrong. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Slow traveler:(

Basics first: Fluid full or at least close? It' s OK if just at the "add" mark when cold! Ok: If it wasn't warmed up yet - funky things can happen from just cold. Try warming it up while still and try again or better yet take to a warm garage just to see if that makes a difference and report what happens after that....... T

The car was warmed up and the fluid is where is suppose to be. Have not been able to get it in a warm shop for a period of time.

Ok: Trannys aren't my specialty but I'd double check physical motion of linkage, and one more wild try for a trick before I would seek some pro trans help to further diagnose. Try disconnecting neg battery cable as a "reset" if there's some fool thing limiting it to just low for some whacked reason it may reset - not sure but worth a try. Good luck, T

I got it in overnight in a heated building twice, no change. Also, tried the negative battery cable no change. I just noticed you have a tranny problem group, should I post this there or doesn't it matter? Thanks, Brian
