I have a 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager Approx: 160,000 miles V6 3.3L 4 Speed Auto-Trans w/Overdrive Symptoms: Was driving at low speed (1-3mph) in a parking lot. Heard a loud bang or clank sound and the van lost drive. Now, regardless of gear it will not engage. When in Neutral it will not roll.(or in any other gear) Fluid level looked fine. Had never had any problems with slippage. Checked shift adjuster, looked fine. Does this sound like the transmission is most likely in need of a full rebuild or could it possibly be another problem? Thanks!

Do you mean it cannot be pushed along in any gear position or that it will not drive itself in any gear position? I would look first to see if your CV shaft has snapped. Those vans were known to snap off the shaft itself without warning (hence a nasty clunk) instead of the joint being bad and making clicking noises to warn you it was going out. If its a CV bad you have a cheap and fairly easy fix and I would guide you through it if you want. You can get a reman CV shaft for about $50 or $60 bucks at most parts stores. Don't waste your time with used stuff. Its almost that much for salvage yard junk. Look underneath with a light at both shafts and tell me what you find. If the shafts are intact and you cannot move this in neutral with some people pushing you will need a new trans as yours has grenaded internally.
