Hey thanks for looking at my post. About 4 months ago, I bought her for $1400 from a dealer. This is my first car...... The dealer sold me her with a rusty oil pan. !!!!!! So i just now got the oil pan replaced. But the car has lost power and when floored the its lags in the 1st gear now. It never used to do that. I have a warranty on the transmission but i dont know if its valid because i just got into an accident as well. It was bad though. Messed up my whole front end but damage didnt make it to the radiator. :) lucky huh? so i replaced the whole front end. The only thing is that the "transmission cooler" (rectangular mini radiator in front of the real radiator) i was told was a little bent up but that as long as it doesnt get hot, its still in good shape. So my question is, do you think my warranty is still valid on the transmission??? And what do you think is the problem. It might be related to the mechanic dropping the trnsmission in order to replace the oil pan. I'll provide pics soon. thanx.

Well you got a few things going on here between the repairs and the accident not to mention a 15 year old car.

Best thing to do is get it checked out & find out what the problem is and if it's under warranty get it fix before it's too late. I don't know the condition of the trans cooler but it's as important to the trans as the rad is to the engine. Most of those the main trans cooler is part of the radiator and some have secondary ones as well, sounds like that is what you are talking about. If it's factory you want to make sure it's in good working order and not just "sorta ok"...... Sorta ok leave the door open to deny a warranty claim....

well after ridin it last night and this morning it seems as if the trans is running smoothly. I just cant floor it like i would like to sometimes. Its been picking up and switching gears a little smoother then it did before i got the oil pan replaced. so yea i will defintley get that that cooler replaced asap, just to try to avoid any problems with the trans. it was just rebuilt i was told, but then again, thats dealer talk. will post pics soon. THX!

If you don't fix that cooler immediately, your just asking for a new transmission.

In one sentence your complaining that you can't "floor it" because your trans is screwed up and in another thread your complaining about gas mileage. You can't have it both ways.
If you keep abusing your car, fuel mileage will be the least of your worries.

Re: 1995 LINCOLN TOWN CAR 4.6 V8 SIG **TRANS PROBLEM** Sign In

I just checked and there will be questions as there seems to be different HD or regular and the fittings are different. All I did was go to big chain parts houses and they ranged between $29 - $49. There will be generic ones to as folk add them if vehicle is under hard use. I personally own 3 late 80s which is all different and they just use the regular radiator as many cars do.

As said folks will add them - cut the return line. At any rate that's not much $ vs blowing the trans which may be too late. Call a place - have the vin# as that tell them what was original. If you called a Ford - same as Lincoln with VIN they would know and get a part # as dealer parts would be more but with a part # known many placed can cross over to their part from an OE. #.

Many cars offer a towing package of the vintage - limited slip differentials. At any rate by the looks of yours it may not be letting fluid pass thru it confusing the trans. I'm not a trans specialist but have a clue - they don't like being too hot! I don't know why that wasn't fixed with the accident an body shops. If you are in Chicago the fittings may be a real issue from corrosion. Were you going to do this yourself? Why not let a shop deal with it? Right now put penetrating oil on the fittings will help,

A buddy of mine and I repaired to answer your question about why it wasnt replaced. That should explain it all. lol But i was just planning on getting the part number off the cooler, buy it off where i can get it most affordable and just install it myself, it didnt look like much of job. Yes i am in chicago and corrosion is a major issue. could you please send me links where i can purchase the parts?

How can we give you a part #? We/I don't know which one you have. If this is no prize of a car I'd cut the lines and put a universal one in,
