1993 Ford Ranger 4 X 4 5-speed transmission jumping out of gear Sign In

I have a 1993 Ford Ranger 4 X 4 with a 4.0l engine and a 5-speed transmission. Recently while driving around town the transmission slipped out of 3rd gear and grinded for a second and then slammed back into gear. It was doing it sporadically but yesterday seemed to be doing it a lot and in 2nd, 3rd and 5th gears. The grade of the road didn't seem to have any bearing on when it would jump out of gear, nor did the roughness of the road or acceleration and deceleration. I usually drive the truck very carefully and not off-road. I got up this morning and the front drivers side tire was flat. I took the tire in to be repaired and they couldn't find a cause, which I'm thinking was probably a bead break so I looked at the front end of the truck when I put the tire back on. There is a definite toe-out problem now (which would explain the flat tire) and when I torqued the tire from left to right there is toe play of 3/4 to 1 inch, and the front differential seems to be loose (wiggles with the tire movement).
