If I turn off my OD it will shift into third just fine. The only thing I can say is the transmission fluid is high on the stick. (Yes I know how to check it properly). Its been high since I bought the car a few months ago. Would draining some of the fluid out likely fix my issue? Or is it likely whatever happened to it is damage done. I need to move here in a few days...about 750 miles of driving. I need either suggestions on what the problem could be, or someone to tell me if theres a chance in hell I can make 750 miles of freeway driving with the overdrive turned off. Thanks! **Oh, I have no way to get the codes out of the car. Im broke beyond broke and dont have a voltmeter. Hey, WallyWorld has a volt meter the size of a deck of cards for about 10 bucks and an LED test light for under five bucks - use both myself and the good stuff stays in shop. The suction gun (looks like a grease gun) you could get the ATF level exact but don't lose an extension hose down the tube or the pan would have to be dropped down to get it. That or a handy and easy trans cooling line just barely leaking when loosened may work but don't run it with it more than just dripping a bit and try to catch it so you know how much. I'd rather see you suck some out. Unless wildly overfilled I doubt that's the issue but more likely some confusion with torque converter lock up in that playing with an OD button changes this. Free to check connections to trans and I don't know how difficult each one would be to replace. Just FYI - more and more parts outlets are renting tools for free like Autozone and others like them for just deposit for safe return. I decided Id go for it and try to drain out some fluid. I did it via the drain plug. I got over a half gallon out before it stopped flowing. So I patched it up and took it for a drive. Slip slip slip SLIP slip slip. Im guessing my fluid level is fine. I looked in my owners manual, it shows a picture of a little dinky dipstick for the transmission...the one in my car is over 10 inches long. Im guessing some tool who worked for the person who sold it to me decided since he lost the original one any old one would do. I just put all the fluid I pulled out back in (Original fluid incase the viscosity is all thats holding it together) but Im afraid to drive it again.
