1986 Mazda B2000 pickup

Just put in a rebuilt manual 5 speed transmission and new clutch. Runs great until I have run it for awhile and then it starts shuttering when pulling off.

What do I need to replace?

Did you bring the flywheel to a machine shop before installing the new clutch?

Then you will probably have to do the job over again.

I am probably getting ready to pull the engine and transmission. Am I going to have to replace the clutch and machine the flywheel? or just machine the flywheel?

Re: 1986 Mazda B2000 pickup Sign In

It depends on the reason for the shuddering......

If there was oil leaking onto it or some other contamination problem then it would problably be a good idea to change it out while the engine is out, it'll never be any easier to do.

If the flywheel is just scored & the disc looks good, since you said it was "brand new" then you could probably reuse it....

I put the clutch in maybe 3 months ago. Replaced the rear seal, transmission and clutch. The shuttering didnt start until a month ago I guess.

The clutch disck may be fine then.
You'll just have to find out when you pull her apart.

As mentioned......If nothing has leaked onto it, you "should" be fine going with the old one.

If by chance something has leaked onto the disk, don't make the mistake thinking you can just clean it up..... You can sand it & spray it off with brk clean & it will "look" fine but the disk is like a sponge so it will have absorbed whatever it was & it will come back to haunt you down the road.......

Depends, Is the disc organic or ceramic?
