1-2 shift P1870 Sign In

I'm going to drain the transmission fluid and change the filter hoping it solves my issue.

I will also add an additive.

Will keep posted with new updates.

Will I need some gasket sealer for this?

Refresh on what this is again if you would. Additives - not a fan of those as new fluid has what it needs in it already even if just a pan drop and filter you get perhaps 1/3 new fluid.

Sealer. You don't have to use it - I do but just a smear and let it dry in the sun if possible then smear of oil on dried sealer so it can't stick to the trans. I don't want fresh sealer to be able to squirt raw into pan! My choice is Permatex gasket maker - sparingly if any at all.

Plain stamped pans should be checked with a straight edge. If dimpled from over tightening pan bolts you can put pay (before gasket) against wood and tap down the distortion if any with a ball peen hammer. Torque a pan in staggered pattern and check it again later as some gaskets shrink up with initial tightening. Shouldn't need to be way too tight just just firmer than you could do with a screwdriver and recheck it again. Over tightening a stamped steel pan can make them leak!

Re: 1-2 shift P1870 Sign In

Transmission started slipping, went to get some codes pulled and one was p1870.

How can I pressure test my transmission ?

I would like to know if my tcc is not too gone,

and if there is an issue with the valve body.

Would pressure tests verify that?

Would like to know if it's the 1-2 shift solenoid or the valve body...

I'm thinking of changing the valve body only and new upper/lower body gaskets and hope that fixes my issue....

I'm lost and have a really low budget.... I can go insane....

Quote">>Transmission started slipping<<"

Don't have what that code means at my beck and call but can't think of much that will make a trans slip barring low fluid except that it's worn out and running low on fluid will wear them out. Not a trans specialist but they are a wearing item and can last a long time/miles but if known over say 70 to 100K since a redo it time for many. Yes, some will go way over 200K but most don't that I know of.

If you know it's way up there in miles and the vehicle is a keeper it's time to overhaul IMO or if you know highly qualified salvage folks they can guess pretty well which ones are good or not for used and stand by them but not for labor,

Re: 1-2 shift P1870 Sign In

Tcc placed and 1-2 shift is too soft..
and sometimes it starts from 2nd gear and won't get 1

Time to rebuild the whole body?
