06 Charger stuck in Park Sign In

2006 Dodge Charger with 88000 miles and no other problems parked last night and this morning the car will not shift out of Park. We tried a different transponder Key and even pushed the little "Pink" button in the center console to no avail. We rocked the car back and forth in case the sprag had pressure on it - NOTHING.

When we depress the brake pedal we can hear the relay in the console actuate, but we can not move the shift out of Park.

How can it be that the emergency release does not work, so the car could at least be pushed or moved?

Did you attempt disconnecting the cable down at the transmission and making sure the selector moves?

Re: 06 Charger stuck in Park Sign In

You are a man after my heart, my hero of the day.

No, we have not disconnected the cable. With the temp and humidity in Dallas hovering around SAUNA, we were waiting for 10 - 11 PM when it gets down to the mid 80s Tonight. Thanks for the tip and the other info on K39 Dealer bulletin.

We'll follow your suggestions/info and let you know tomorrow if we can get to it tonight.

Check with a Dealer, K39 is a Recall

In case this vehicle isn't involved in recall, you can replace the lever yourself or do the Mcguyver fix with a Cotter pin....
Google..... ' pink thingy cotter pin fix'
